Hey ASMS, we are the Initiatives Committee! The Initiatives Committee is in charge of making SGA initiatives which center around the SGA Constitution and SGA Handbook. We also initiate and organize programs that create opportunities and improve student life. This year, we have a diverse range of programs for the ASMS community.
This Fall Term, Initiatives Committee will work with the SGA officers, advisors, and the ASMS President to update and revise the SGA Constitution and Handbook. We want to incorporate feedback received from the ASMS community and make sure the SGA Constitution and Handbook is in its best form for the SGA to run effectively.
During Winter Term, we want to organize and initiate an ASMS content program where students can participate and create various content about ASMS campus life and the community. This content can be shared to the rest of the ASMS community as well as provide insight to people interested about the ASMS lifestyle. We also want to collaborate with the Art Department and reopen the art gallery to showcase art pieces from students.
In Spring Term, Initiative Committee plans to reestablish the annual Mega Musical Chairs hosted by the SGA. Mega Musical Chairs is a charity event where students can participate by getting a faculty sponsor, and the winner of the event can donate the proceeds to a charity of their choice. We also want to continue the research symposium that launched last year. By working with faculty and staff, Initiatives Committee hopes to host this wonderful event again and provide an opportunity for students to share their research to the ASMS community.
As you can see, there are so many amazing opportunities and events that Initiatives Committee wants to work on this year. With the help of the SGA, student body and ASMS community, we strongly believe that we can make this year worth remembering. So, cheers to a wonderful year with the most wonderful people!
