ASMS Offers Free ACT Prep for Alabama Students
The Alabama School of Mathematics and Science is excited to once again offer free ACT prep for Alabama students. The ACT Like a Dragon program, now in its second year, provides online and in-person test prep sessions for juniors and seniors enrolled in Alabama high schools. The program’s instructors are high-performing ASMS students and experienced ASMS professors.
Standardized test scores are a critical component of college admissions. Most universities review them as part of the admissions process, and many more take them into account when awarding merit-based scholarships. The lower-end cutoff for many merit-based scholarships is an ACT composite score of 24, with greater rewards for students who achieve scores of 30 and higher. For this reason, it benefits students to raise their ACT scores as much as they can.
Each spring, the state of Alabama offers most juniors the opportunity to take the ACT for free. The free ACT prep that ASMS provides is intended to help students maximize this experience and improve their chances to earn a strong ACT score at no cost to their families.
Beginning in late January and early February, ACT Like a Dragon sessions for students outside of Mobile and Baldwin counties will be hosted as Microsoft Teams video conferences, while sessions for local students will be held on the ASMS campus. The students who will benefit most from the experience are those with little ACT experience or current scores of 20 or lower.
Students and their families can register for the ACT Like a Dragon test prep program by completing this form before January 6, 2025. Seat availability is limited and will be assigned by form submission date, among other factors.
