Bio: Helene Swanepoel was born and raised in South Africa, where from a young age she developed a passion for math. She was raised in a family of engineers, computer programmers and farmers who encouraged her to solve challenging problems using different mathematical approaches. She finished her master’s degree at the University of South Alabama and taught as a math Instructor at South. She is incredibly excited to be a part of the ASMS team. Her goal is to prepare students for independent mathematical thinking and to share her passion for mathematics. In her free time, Helene likes to run and swim with her dad and sister, play video games, and continue her research in Knot Theory.
