Dr. Matthew Davenport is an Alabama native, growing up in northwest Alabama. Having a desire for learning and an interest in chemistry, Dr. Davenport attended the University of North Alabama where he obtained his B.S. in Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics. Never being satisfied with his knowledge of the field; he continued his education at the University of Alabama where he obtained his Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry for research in the fields of solid-state crystal growth and X-ray crystallography. Dr. Davenport went on to work as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill before returning to Alabama and joining the ASMS faculty. Here at ASMS, Dr. Davenport strives to inspire students in their own academic pursuits.
